Community Spotlights
Comrex, a local business right here in Devens, recently saved nearly $6,000 on new and like new furniture to update their conference room by shopping with TGE! Comrex “designs and builds equipment that uses the most advanced available technology to connect broadcasters with their audiences.” They have been long term supporters of TGE and are frequent donors of their manufacturing by-products. We are grateful for their unwavering support in helping to prevent waste.
We recently had 10 volunteers help out during United Way of North Central MA‘s 2024 Day of Caring! These volunteers helped us completely transform our various storage areas, unload and clean new inventory items, and clean out/properly recycle materials no longer needed. We are grateful to this group and to United Way for providing such a great avenue for folks to get involved in their communities.
Make It Labs, a nonprofit maker space in New Hampshire was recently able to purchase over 40 matching Herman Miller task chairs. Shopping at TGE saved this nonprofit over $10,000, allowing them to update their space and replace a mixed set of old and worn out chairs. Staff love that they can be tucked in and free up aisle space in high traffic areas!
Over the last two years our partnership with Spry Moving has helped rescue over 4,000 pounds of tables, desks, office chairs, and facilities items. We appreciate their commitment to encouraging clients to recycle or donate their excess furniture and equipment and are grateful to be a part of the upcycle network of non-profits, charitable organizations and schools they work with to give a second life to quality items no longer needed.
Through our partnership with the Director of Materials and Recycling (Sue Higgins) at Northeastern University we have helped to rescue more than 1,400lbs to date of new and like new office supplies, facilities resources, and storage options that were no longer needed. We are grateful for their collaboration in helping to preserve the value of so many resources that can be used by others!
The staff at the nonprofit Concord Bridge newspaper have been frequent shoppers and supporters of TGE. They recently visited TGE looking to update an existing office with more professional pieces. The savings achieved by shopping at TGE will allow them to further their mission of providing a free weekly newspaper to the residents and businesses of Concord, MA.
Members of Middlesex Savings Bank in Groton volunteered their time on February 29 as part of the 2024 Leap of Kindness Day. The extra hands allowed TGE to build large shelving units in our storage area to better help us manage incoming inventory and stay organized. We are so grateful for their time and extra efforts to help out our local community.
Thanks to the generous support of Steve Rotman of Rotman’s Furniture in Worcester, TGE was able to rescue over 5,200 lbs of new furniture and supplies, worth an estimated $7,000. Many of these resources have already found new homes with other nonprofit organizations and municipal departments. We are grateful for his partnership and extra efforts to repurpose these items!
Our partnership with Frank Allen at Sterling Moving Company has helped rescue nearly 5,000 pounds of furniture and supplies to date. Sterling incorporates environmentally focused practices into their day to day operations and works locally “to act as a model for reuse, recycling, and safe disposal.” They routinely donate furniture that is in good, re-usable condition to nonprofit organizations in the area.
